Trump's Cabinet Holds Bitcoin, Solana, Ethereum—But No Cardano Or XRP

Following the announcement of a strategic crypto stockpile containing altcoins, several cabinet members of the Trump administration have drawn scrutiny for their crypto holdings.

What Happened: In an X post on Tuesday, market commentator ‘The Pelosi Tracker’ noted that Trump's proposed crypto strategic reserve has sparked debate, as several of his cabinet members hold substantial crypto assets.

His son, Eric Trump, has indirect exposure through the World Liberty Financial project, which reportedly purchased $47 million in Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) and $45 million in Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH).

Bill Pulte, nominee for Director of Federal Housing Finance, owns up to $1 million in Solana (CRYPTO: SOL) and Bitcoin, plus $25 million in Bitcoin mining stock Marathon Holdings (NASDAQ:MARA).

Kash Patel, nominee for FBI director, has a spouse with $100,000 in Grayscale's Bitcoin ETF.

Robert Kennedy Jr., appointed as HHS Director, holds $1.3 million in Bitcoin and previously pledged to divest if confirmed.

Michael Kratsios, nominee for the Office of Science and Technology Policy, owns $250,000 in Bitcoin and $50,000 in Ethereum.

Vice President JD Vance reportedly had up to $500,000 in Bitcoin, though his current holdings remain unclear.

While Tulsi Gabbard previously owned crypto, she pledged to divest before her confirmation and appears to have followed through.

Notably absent from holdings are Cardano (CRYPTO: ADA) and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP).

GOP Representative Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) made history as the first-ever congressional member to purchase $15,000 worth of XRP in mid-January.

Why It Matters: While many cabinet members hold crypto ETFs, launching a crypto strategic reserve would directly benefit those with exposure to specific assets.

Arkham Intelligence data suggests Donald Trump himself holds a $1.8 million crypto portfolio, including Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP), USDC (CRYPTO: USDC), Polygon (CRYPTO: MATIC), Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE), Maga (CRYPTO: MAGA) and other smaller coins.
