Ubisoft To Discontinue Online Services For 10 Classic Games In 2024

Author: Franca Quarneti | October 31, 2023 02:47pm

Ubisoft Entertainment SA (OTC:UBSFF) is set to shut down online services for 10 older video games, causing them to lose their online functionality on Jan. 25, 2024.

This decision is part of a growing trend in the gaming industry, where publishers and developers are discontinuing online services for various reasons, including low player counts and expiring licenses.

In a post on its support site, Ubisoft acknowledged that the decision to decommission online services for these games is not taken "lightly" but is a "necessity" as the technology behind these services becomes outdated.

The affected games and platforms include:

  • Assassin’s Creed II (Xbox 360)
  • Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (Mac)
  • Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
  • Assassin’s Creed Revelations (PC)
  • Ghost Recon Future Soldier (PC), Heroes of Might and Magic VI (PC)
  • NCIS (PC)
  • Splinter Cell: Conviction (Xbox 360)
  • R.U.S.E. (PC)
  • Trials Evolution (PC)

Once the online features are deactivated, players will no longer be able to engage in online multiplayer, link accounts, or collect Ubisoft Connect rewards for these games.

It's worth noting that some of these titles had their online services discontinued on various platforms in recent years.
