Author: Franca Quarneti | June 11, 2024 02:37pm

Resident Evil Village, released in May 2021, has sold more than 10 million copies, making it the fastest-selling game in the series. Its success mirrors that of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, sharing a first-person perspective and adding a third-person option.

The game's protagonist, Ethan Winters, battles werewolf-like Lycans in a European village, with a focus on action. Moreover, the popularity of the character Lady Dimitrescu significantly boosted the game’s appeal and marketing efforts.

Capcom ADR‘s (OTC:CCOEY) Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which includes additional story content and expanded device support, contributed to sustained sales of around two million copies annually.

As a result, Resident Evil Village has become the third best-selling Resident Evil game, trailing only behind the Resident Evil 2 remake and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The franchise has sold a total of 157 million units.

Looking ahead, the Resident Evil franchise appears poised for more remakes and a new installment. Reports indicated remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica are in development, while fans eagerly anticipate the next main entry, tentatively referred to as Resident Evil 9.
