Rocksteady Studios has announced a delay in the release of the second season of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, just days before the new content was set to go live.

The official account for the game revealed on Twitter that the release timing for the next season would be adjusted from July 11 to July 25.

The upcoming season promises to introduce new elements, including Mrs. Freeze as a playable character, a new map, new weapons, and two episodes titled “Frozen Hearts” and “Winter.” This delay is the latest development in the game’s post-launch content rollout, following its initial release in late January.

Troubled Launch And Player Retention Issues

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has faced significant challenges since its launch. The game received a lukewarm reception from critics and players alike, struggling with player retention.

At launch, the game was criticized for its repetitive gameplay and lack of engagement, contributing to its underwhelming performance.

A Bloomberg report last month highlighted the game’s troubled development cycle. According to multiple sources, Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. (NASDAQ:WBD) executives had high expectations for “Suicide Squad,” hoping it would become a billion-dollar franchise.

However, after the game’s poor reception, many developers at Rocksteady reportedly shifted their focus to a director’s cut of “Hogwarts Legacy.”

Despite these challenges, Rocksteady Studios remains committed to its post-launch content roadmap. A spokesperson for Warner Bros. told IGN last month that the company plans to complete the announced content for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, though the future of the game beyond the fourth season remains uncertain.
