Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) delivered the first of eight C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifters to Ohio’s Youngstown Air Reserve Station, marking the introduction of the aircraft’s new aerial spray mission capability.
The 910th Airlift Wing operates the Department of Defense’s only large-area, fixed-wing aerial spray capability to control disease-carrying insects and disperse oil spills.
The versatile C-130J Super Hercules now supports 19 mission capabilities, including this unique aerial spray function.
The U.S. Air Force Reserve’s fleet includes both C-130Js and legacy aircraft. Adding the C-130J Super Hercules enhances readiness with extended reach and improved mission interoperability.
Rod McLean, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin’s Air Mobility & Maritime Missions line of business said, “Lockheed Martin is honored to deliver the most advanced Super Hercules ever built to the 910th Airlift Wing, providing cutting-edge technology and enabling a critical mission for the U.S. Air Force Reserve,”
Last week, the Pentagon stated that it will reportedly resume accepting new F-35s this month, boosting Lockheed Martin shares.
Apart from this, recently, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics won a $520.4 million contract modification by the U.S. Air Force to produce the F-16 Viper Shield electronic warfare suite.
