Nintendo ADR (OTC:NTDOY) has announced the release of an official Joy-Con Charging Stand.
The announcement, made on X/Twitter, comes nearly eight years after the console’s launch. This new accessory will allow users to charge two Joy-Cons simultaneously without needing to attach them to the Switch itself.

The Joy-Con Charging Stand (Two-Way) is designed to address the needs of players who often use the Switch in portable mode.
As Nintendo noted, the charging stand is especially useful for those who want to keep their Joy-Cons powered up even when they’re not in use. In addition to Joy-Cons, the stand is compatible with the Switch’s Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) controllers, providing a versatile charging solution.
Set to be available on October 17, 2024, the stand works by allowing users to attach the Joy-Cons to either side, much like the existing grip accessory but without the grip.
A USB-C cable at the top of the stand ensures the controllers receive power. Despite the detailed announcement, Nintendo has yet to disclose the price of the new charging stand.
This reveal follows a significant milestone for the Nintendo Switch, which recently became the longest-running Nintendo home console without a successor.
The Switch surpassed the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), which held the previous record of 2,868 days. The Switch has now been available for 2,694 days and counting.
While speculation about the next-generation Nintendo console, often referred to as the Switch 2, continues, the company has made it clear that any new hardware will not arrive before April 2025.
This timeline suggests that some upcoming titles might be released as dual versions for both the current Switch and its successor, similar to the launch strategy for “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” which was available on both the Wii U and the Switch.
