Tesla Looking To Hire Engineer For Its '25 Guns Taskforce' That Is Said To Report Directly To Elon Musk

Author: Anan Ashraf | August 14, 2024 06:22am

EV giant Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is looking for an engineer to join the company’s special “25 guns” taskforce at its gigafactory in Berlin, according to the company’s career page.

What Happened: “As part of an Engineer on the 25 Guns Taskforce, you will be working on tough, critical-path projects and exciting challenges that do require immediate attention,” Tesla said about the role on its careers page. The projects will focus heavily on manufacturing engineering, ramp-up, production uptime and cost optimization, the company added.

The job role requires the individual to be on-site at the company’s gigafactory and demands flexibility regarding work schedule and a sense of urgency. A minimum of 5 years of working experience would be preferred, the company said, while adding that outstanding achievements could also make up for the lack of experience.

Why It Matters: 25 Guns was first put into place in late 2020. The engineering task force was allegedly deployed to solve the toughest problems at Giga Berlin and reported directly to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Musk said in an X post last year that the 25 Guns were instrumental to the success of Tesla’s sole gigafactory in Europe.

Giga Berlin opened officially in March 2022. It now manufactures the company’s Model Y vehicles and battery cells. According to the EV giant, Giga Berlin has the capacity to manufacture over 375,000 Model Y vehicles in a year, as compared to Giga Texas which can make only 250,000 Model Y SUVs annually.

In the second quarter, Giga Berlin began manufacturing vehicles for right-hand drive markets and delivered its first units to the UK. The factory also delivered vehicles across Qatar, Israel, and Taiwan.
