Ford Recalls Over 37,000 Vehicles, Including Mustang Mach-E EV SUV, Due To Non-Operational Front Windshield Wipers

Michigan-based Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) is recalling 37,371 vehicles including its all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV over concerns that its front windshield wipers may fail.

What Happened: The entire recall population includes several 2023-2024 Ford Maverick vehicles, 2023 Ford Bronco Sport, and 2023 Mustang Mach-E SUVs. The front windshield wiper motors in some of these vehicles may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail, reducing visibility in certain conditions and increasing the risks of a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.

Ford’s dealers will inspect and replace the windshield wiper motors as required, free of cost to the customer, the U.S. auto safety regulator added.

The company, however, is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to the condition.

Why It Matters: According to data from NHTSA, Ford has issued nearly 40 recalls this year. In January, the company recalled 1.89 million Ford Explorer vehicles across model years because trim retention clips may not be properly engaged.

In June, Ford recalled 552,188 model year 2014 F-150 vehicles citing concerns of loss of vehicle control.

Meanwhile, the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV, was Ford’s best-selling electric vehicle in the second quarter, seconded by its F-150 Lightning EV pickup truck. The company sold a total of 12,645 units of the electric SUV from April to June.
